Monthly Prayer Bulletin for
InterVarsity’s 20th Student Mission
Convention
May 2003 For almost 2000 years now, followers of Jesus have been forming prayer
partnerships across cities and continents so that God's grace and blessing
can bring hope to the needy and the Good News about His Son to those
who don't yet know him.
We invite you to join us in praying for Urbana 03, InterVarsity’s
20th Student Mission Convention. The Urbana team is assembled and preparations
are underway for the event which will take place December 27-31, 2003.
As we look ahead, we are committing all our plans to God and praying
God would use this convention for His glory and His Kingdom.
- Pray for our world—the world that God loves—in these
days of war, famine and disease.
- Pray for peace and for peacemakers.
- Ask God to use current world
events to purify His church here in North America and around the world.
- Ask the Lord of the Harvest to send workers into his harvest field.
- Pray for Urbana to be used by God in His calling of a whole new
generation of students into missions.
- Ask God to fill the convention with the
students of His choosing.
- Pray for students throughout the US and Canada
who are hearing about Urbana this month. Ask God to guide them in their
decision-making
about coming to the convention.
- Pray for InterVarsity staff as they make presentations
about Urbana on campus and at churches. Pray for their creativity in
paving the
way for students who want to attend.
- Praise God for the students who have already
registered for Urbana 03.
- Pray for their spiritual preparation for
the convention.
- Praise God for the effectiveness of the Operations team
who on the whole are ahead of schedule in making preparations for the
convention.
- Pray for Urbana’s relationship with the University
of Illinois- that we might be a blessing to this campus and its staff.
Pray
especially for Jen Albrecht as she negotiates facility usage throughout campus.
- Praise
God for the InterVarsity staff who make up the Urbana worship and theatre
teams.
- Pray for Worship Team leader- Krista Dawn Kimsey and Theatre
Team Leader- Alison Siewert as they finish out the school year and
prepare their
teams for Urbana.
- Praise God for his work and creativity in the lives of the
platform presenters who will speak at Urbana 03.
- Pray for the speakers’ preparation
in these days. Pray for their devotional lives- for the deepening of
their intimacy with God
as they look toward Urbana 03.
- Praise God for the gift of Scripture to us and
for the richness of studying Scripture in small groups.
- Pray for Small
Group Manager, Lindsay Olesberg, as she prepares Urbana Bible Studies
this spring.
- Pray for the courses which are being prepared
for InterVarsity’s
National Institute of Staff Education and Training (June 20-July 9, 2003)
which will deepen staff workers’ training in Bible Study, Theatre,
and Prayer in preparation for Urbana.
