Jim Tebbe was born in Pakistan, the son of missionary parents. In 1966, he moved with his family to the United States, where he finished his final year of high school and began his college career. He graduated from Indiana University with a B.A. in Psychology. He received a Master in Divinity from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary, his M.A. in Near Eastern studies/Islamics from Princeton University, and his Ph.D. in Religious Studies from St. John’s Nottingham/Open University. Jim has been involved in widespread international ministry work for many years. He was involved with student ministry at Punjab University and was Pastor of International Christian Fellowship in Lahore, Pakistan. He was ordained through the Lahore Church Council (Presbyterian) in Pakistan in 1978. He pastored Dhaka International Christian Church in Bangladesh. He also served as a staff member of the Christian Study Centre in Pakistan. In 1986 he became the Area Director West for Interserve in Cyprus. In 1992 he became the International Director for Interserve in Cyprus, where he served until God led him to Madison, Wisconsin to lead the Urbana 03 team. He currently works as Director of Urbana 03. He is a frequent speaker, preacher, and lecturer at national and international events. He is married to Beth, and has 4 children: Daniel, David, Andrew, and Esther. Jim has many interesting hobbies, each based on the countries in which he lived:
He is interested in student missions because he believes that students are at a time and place in life when they make commitments that stay with them forever. He believes that students need to be reached with the Gospel and challenged to share that Gospel with the entire world. < back to Urbana 03 Speakers
