Weekly Updates: Pray for Urbana 06 Would you like to meet God in fresh ways at Urbana 06? There is no better way for you to connect with God and seek his face than in prayer. Ultimately, it is God alone who brings all the pieces of Urbana together, who brings conviction in your heart, and who causes his purposes to be accomplished throughout the earth. "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen."
(Eph. 3:20-21) As we ask and seek in faith, our God will be faithful to provide even beyond what we ask for. We hope that you will experience the goodness and generosity of God through prayer at Urbana 06 and that the convention will help you learn to pray in new ways. Preparing for Urbana
Your posture coming into Urbana 06 will significantly affect how much you receive from the convention. Spending time with Jesus in the months prior to Urbana will help you to have a deeper experience of him at the convention. We suggest beginning in Ephesians: as you read Paul’s letter, turn your heart to God in thanksgiving for the blessings he has lavishly poured out on us, lay your hopes and plans before him as you seek his direction for your life, and bring your hurts and questions to him as you trust in his power to turn even death into life. Platform Prayer
During our general sessions, lift your prayers and petitions to God together with 25,000 other believers. Experience the love and mercy of God as his people pray. These times of prayer in the main sessions will give you a chance to immediately take before God the things you have heard, seen, and sung about as you ask, "What does this mean for my life?" Prayer Ministry Seminars and Prayer Seminars
Want to receive from God in a particular area at Urbana? Come to one of our prayer ministry seminars, listed under the General Ed Seminar Major. These seminars will offer brief times of worship and teaching, followed by an extended period for healing or listening prayer ministry. While most seminars at the convention are primarily instructional, prayer ministry seminars are experientially focused. Each afternoon we will offer a different prayer ministry seminar. You can attend seminars on intimacy with God, sexual brokenness and healing, hearing God’s call, and dealing with family issues. InterVarsity staff workers will be on hand during each session to pray with you individually. Many delegates in the past have found the prayer ministry seminars to be extremely helpful, and each session typically has one to two thousand attendees. At Urbana, you will have the opportunity to fast during a lunch. A time of worship and prayer will be held in the assembly hall over the lunch hour on Dec. 30. This is an opportunity to pray for God’s purposes to be accomplished throughout the earth and to reflect on the response God might be asking of you to the things he has been saying during Urbana 06. Urbana can be an overwhelming experience, and taking some time to simply pray throughout the week can be an important way to stay personally connected to God and take in what God is giving you. Visiting the Prayer and Worship Room can help you keep a right perspective as you seek God at Urbana 06. There will be times of music, dance, quiet, and artistic reflection in this space created to be a tabernacle. You can drop in for a few minutes or stay for a few hours, depending on God’s invitation to you, but we encourage you to take the time to join this worship experience. Intercession at Urbana 06
Did you know that you’ll be remembered in prayer every minute you’re at Urbana 06? A team of intercessors will be praying around the clock for every aspect of the convention, from the needs of platform speakers to issues happening for individual delegates. The intercessory team will receive updates and prayer concerns throughout the week from people all over the convention. Not only that, but our team of intercessors is praying right now as we count down the weeks to the convention. We appreciate your prayers as well!
